A Thousand Reasons to Smile

Last week I posted a little piece with 3 photographs I took on a sunday afternoon. Not that special. But it made me smile. And that reminded me of one of my favourite quotes:

"When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life you have a thousand reasons to smile"

I loved showing you the photographs. So I'm planning on doing such a post every week. Don't know if you like it. I hope you do, but tell me if you don't. I'll just post my own photographs. And maybe Fleur's, if she lets me. Just little and lovely things. I hope you enjoy. And don't forget to smile! :)

Not that great, but I promise you I'll have amazing ones next week! And btw I'm sorry for the lack of posting last week. I've been on a little holiday and Fleur's been quite busy. I'm very busy this week, but I'll try to post something! :)

Sunday Afternoon

I get inspired by the little things. Those things you normally wouldn't notice, until you look closer. Not a big post this time. But just a little one. With 3 pictures I took on a sunday afternoon that make me see how wonderful some things are. Karin.

Milow

Milow is a Belgian singer-songwriter. In the Netherlands he's mostly known for his cover 'Ayo Technology' and for his song 'You don't know'. When I like a song, I usually check out the other songs of the artist as well. Sometimes it's disappointing, but Milow's songs are really beautiful. The music is like it should be and I simply love the lyrics. They really are a big inspiration for me. And that's what this blog is about after all. :)

This song is called 'Born in the eighties'.

You can hear his popular song 'You don't know' and maybe-not-so-well-known-but-still-amazing song 'Dreamers and Renegades' in the next video. 'Dreamers and Renegades' is a song that really can cheer me up. :) (This is the live-version)

And last, but definitly not least: 'The Ride'.

It's probably my favourite Milow song.

What do you think?

Michelle Phan on YouTube

Mostly when I'm getting bored, I'm starting to surf around on Youtube. And I recently bumped into MichellePhan's account! She is amazing! She has a lot of make-up tutorials that are very fun to watch. So I would like to share a few of my favourites:Here she makes curls in her hair without heat, she only uses a paper bag.

Here she bought her shoes half a size to small, so she shows us how to stretch them up using water/ice.
And here she learns us a trick, how to use business cards when you're not that brilliant with mascara.

Lady Gaga is a Fashion Queen and a Make-Up Artist! Here Michelle shows us how it's done.

And last but not least, how to save money when you think (!) you're lipgloss is empty!

She has many more videos, check her out on Youtube!

Bonheur

I bought the cutest little postcards in Brussels. The illustrations are made by Patrick Chauvet.

Pour toi, tout le Boheur du Monde. (For you, all the happiness in the world)Le Grand Bonheur est la somme de plein de petits bonheurs. (Great happiness is the sum of little happinesses.)

Un petit coin de bonheur. (A little place of happiness.)

Un bouquet de bonheur. (A bouquet of happiness.)

(I'm sorry if the translations aren't correct, my French isn't that good.)

Gossip Girl

Ok., I guess everyone knows Gossip Girl or at least must have heard about it! In America, season 2 has succesfully ended and September 14th the third season will start.

The Main Characters

(From the left to the right) Leighton Meester (Bitchy Blair Waldorf) - Chace Crawford (Hot Nate Archibald) - Blake Lively (It-Girl Serena Van Der Woodsen) - Penn Badgley (Lonely Boy Dan Humphrey) - Ed Westwick (Bad Boy Chuck Bass) - Taylor Momsen (All Innocent Jenny Humphrey)

The Story
Gossip Girl is someone who keeps track of everyones life on the Upper East Side of New York. And with everyone I mean those who visit Constance Billiard High School and St. Jude's High School daily, or at least, are meant to do that. The main characters are the ones with the most fascinating lives. It's all about Love, Revenge, Popularity and How To Spend A Lot Of Money In Not So Much Time.

The Outfits
Everyone wears highly fashionable clothes. It's like candy for your eyes. See for yourself on the picture above. It all looks beautiful and expensive!

What do I think?
I think Gossip Girl is the most amazing, addicting, fascinating serie. I recently watched all the episodes of Season One (I've got the dvd box ^^.) and it was brilliant again! There is always happening something on the Upper East Side. I highly recommend it to everyone who is into fashion, girltrouble, boytrouble, rich people's lifes, hot guys, New York (!) and a lot more :)

You know you love me..

Brussels.

I went to Brussels wednesday and had an amazing time. And I couldn't help taking some pictures to show you some things. Enjoy!

The atomium was build in 1958 for the World's Fair. It really huge when you actually see it in real life. You can visit 5 spheres, including the highest one. It was truly amazing! For once I didn't mind being a stupid tourist! :)
Grand Place. I've been a few times in Brussels before, so I already saw this. But it's quite nice.
Something I like to do when I go for a day of shopping or visit a city is to go into a local supermarket. Most supermarkets have cold (!), delicious smoothies. It isn't as expensive as buying one in a restaurant, café or other places where you can buy cold drinks. Just go into the supermarket, buy one or two and just look for a lovely place to sit in the sun. I mean it: you should really do that. Btw. You can find a lot more tasty -but not that healthy- things in supermarkets.
This is a nice way to make a boring wall look good.
This store is like a fairytale come true. When you enter you go straight back into your childhood. There's candy and chocolate as far as you can see. Al packed in cute old-fashioned cans or just lying there in big bowls. The downside on the shop: You have to pay a little more. But the tasting was free. And delicous.
I also visited Musee du Cacao et du Chocolat (the Chocolate Museum). It isn't big. But quite interesting. And again with the tasting: delicous. Belgium is know for there chocolates. You have to be careful not to trip over the huge amount of stores. You can also buy just one or 2 little chocolates in those stores. You really should. It's not much. But it's chocolate and you can choose from a lot of different little mouthwatering brown or white pieces of.. ..chocolate!

I also did some shopping. But this is enough for now. :) You'll see that later!

Leanne Marshall

Sometimes I have days I don't really want to get out of bed, prefer to stay in my comfi clothes and rather do nothing than to face that pile of homework that's waiting for me. That's when I start watching tv shows on the internet. And while I normally don't follow programmes like Project Runway, I just have to watch such programmes instead of doing some homework. It's an awfull habbit. Really. So quite some time ago I stumbled across season 5 of project runway. The people who watch the show can probably stop reading right now, cause I think they've already seen this. The -in my eyes- amazing ocean-inspired collection of Leanne Marshall. And what happend after Project Runway?

You can see her fall 2009 collection and more on her website:

Ballerina

Quite some time ago, we made a wallpainting together with this picture as our inspiration. We projected the picture on the wall and had so much fun painting. During the painting we made some pictures of the progress. (The quality isn't perfect, because they are made with a phone)

And after quite some time, it is still very pretty :)
(And this one isn't made with a phone ^^. These are the real colours.)

Penelope

Penelope is a modern fairytale about a girl with a pig nose. Yes, I'm really talking about a girl with a nose of a pig. But look at these pictures. Personally, I think the whole set and clothes are beautiful. The colour combinations in the clothes are strange, but it works. And the set is modern, but with a lot of old things, like the beautiful house Penelope lives in.
I really enjoyed watching this movie. Well, see for yourself:

What the Duck?!

When you're just hanging around, doing nothing except staring at your computer, you may just find something you really like. I was looking for something to post on our blog and then I remembered 'What The Duck.' It's an online comic strip about a photographing duck. We'd like to show you a few of our favourites! :)

Gravity.

You might know Sara Bareilles from the song 'Love song'. And although she didn't want to write a love song, she did write this beautiful song. It's called 'Gravity'. I think everyone recognizes something of him or herself in it. I know I did. And please don't worry, the song has nothing to do with physics. ^^

The rain is falling..

I fell in love with this drawing made by Danny Roberts. We were planning on doing a little article about his art. And you will see that. But for now.. just enjoy this one. I especially like the face of this girl.

Anna McCraney

The last few weeks I've seen several episodes of 'The Fashion Show'. It's more or less like Project Runway or Project Catwalk. Anna McCraney, one of the designers and winner of the show, really caught my eye. She designs and makes beautiful clothes. I just wanted to share it with you. The next photograph is one of her designs from her collection.

And please notice the pretty dress in the background. I fell in love the moment I saw the back of the dress, but couldn't find a picture of it.

You can see her whole winning collection. But look closely, the quality isn't that good! :(

And this is one of the pretty dresses she made during one of the episodes:

What do you think of her designs?

Disclaimer: All images found on Google. If we don't have the right to post them here, we're sorry. You should say so immediately and we'll delete them.

1838

The first photograph taken of a person. In case you didn't notice, there's a little figure getting his shoe cleaned on the street. According to wikipedia, this is the first photograph with a person in it taken in 1838 by Louis Daguerre. The exposure time was about 10 minutes, therefore the moving traffic and other people are invisible. The man in the picture however, stood still.

Our Photography

We want to show you a lot of things. But we'd like to start with something we both love very much. Photography. We've been taking pictures for a few months now. So here are a few of our own photos ^^.

Hope you all like what you see ^^.
