5 Looks

Another 5 looks. I hope you are enjoying them :) The last couple of weeks I've been really into comfortable long sweaters, lovely vests, boots, scarfs and everything else that looks comfortable and warm. The weather's beginning to get a little grey. It rains most of the time. And according to our poll, you haven't had that much sunshine too. So it's time for some beautiful, warm and cosy clothing. I hope you love them as much as I do. By My Daily Style. A lovely blog you should check out sometime.

Listen and Smile!

The highlight of today was the part were I learned that insects breathe through holes in their back. Quite a day. Not. And now, after some hot chocolate, eating cupcakes with friends, talking and doing practicaly nothing, I feel much better. So I thought, why don't I post a little something today? To make you feel better as well :)

Recently I've been listening to all kinds of music. But two musicians really keep popping up in my playlist. Mika and Owl City. Mika is well known around here, but I never heard of Owl City before. Where you live it can be the other way around. Or you know them both.

Mika has just released his second big album. I love it. It's still him, but more complete in some way. My favourites at this moment (it changes every 5 seconds) :

I had never heard of Owl City, until Fleur send my such a lovely song. After a little tiny bit of research I discovered that it is an American synthpop musical project. The song
'Fireflies' was a hit single in America. That's all I know. At this point. Anyway. This are a few songs I love (not including Fireflies, which I absolutely adore, you should definetly check that one out too!):

I hope you'll love them as much as I do.
Enjoy it.
Turn up the volume and just start smiling.
Have a lovely day!

Liefs,
Karin.

Let's spread the love ^^.

A little while ago Karin send me this text.

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say.
When someone would ask him how he was doing, would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"
He was a natural motivator.
If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.
Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today.
You can choose to be in a good mood or .. you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.
Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.
Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life, choose the positive side of life.
"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Michael said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice.
You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood.
The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."
I reflected on what Michael said. Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications towe! r.
After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of! intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.
I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied. "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?"
I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.
"The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter," Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or... I could choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.
Michael continued, "...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read "he's a dead man. I knew I needed to take action."
"What did you do?" I asked.
"Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic to anything.
"Yes, I replied." The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Gravity."
Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."
Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.
Attitude, after all, is everything.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.
Enjoy each day, each breath and mostly---each and every friend.

(I couldn't find out who the author of this inspiring piece is, if anyone knows.. please tell me so I can give credit!)

I really wanted to share this with you, because it made me reconsider a few things. Like how easy it is to be optimistic. And how stupid some people (including myself) can be.
What do you think?

To finish here is one of Karin's (to my opinion) best conceptual photos :)

Let's spread the love ^^.

Album Art 2

About 2 months ago, we posted a little piece about Album Art. Sometimes the most beautiful things are found on places you don't really look. You buy a cd to listen to the music. But all those album covers are little pieces of art. And they really deserve some attention. Just like last time, I found six album covers I really liked.

Which one do you like best?
Do you have any suggestions?

H&M Wishlist

Every once in a while I don't really want do whatever I need to do. Like homework. Every few months I visit H&M's webshop to see what new items they have. And that's what I did two days ago. This is what I found.I love this coat. The colour is really beautiful. I don't need another coat and I promised to myself that I wouldn't buy one, because my old one is fine. But as you might know, I really like those military inspired jackets.
I think this is perfect for a simple party. It's quite classy, but still fun. I really like the neckline and the way those shirt studs don't make it look a little cheap. Because sometimes they do. And in this case it doesn't look cheap, but it is.
I can see myself sitting on the couch drinking warm chocolate and watching a movie with some friends. It looks warm and comfy. You can wear it on a stay-on-the-couch-all-day-and-do-as-less-as-possible-day, but also with jeans and a simple top when you go to school. :)
Like I said. I really don't need another coat. But that doesn't mean I can't look. I like the length of this one. Maybe not always that practical, but in some situations it can be a perfect coat. It looks warm and I like the grey. It's a beautiful coat. I have a weakness for these shoes. Ever since I first saw them in a H&M store in Belgium, I wanted to have them. But I know I wouldn't wear them a lot. I would just look at them. And that's not that practical. Unfortunately I decided not to buy them. Nevertheless, I love the old look they have. And the pink. Ahh. I still want them.
I like this blouse. It has an old feeling to it. And I like the little blue stripes. They probably look wonderful with a simple belt and some jeans.

And last but not least: Who doesn't need another comfortable blue pair of pyjamas??

What are your favourite H&M wardrobe pieces? Or which ones do you have on your wishlist?

Monet in a Dress

One particular dress really caught my eye when I watched an episode of Project Runway. The contestants had to use inspiration from a museum in LA and Gordana, one of the contestants, chose a wonderful painting from Monet. I love the dress she made. It's so beautiful. She really took the painting and made it into a dress. Just wanted to share.

Post-it Love

And we're back!
Sorry for the enormous lack of posting and thank you Fleur for your birthdaywishes ^^ Really made my day! And that reminds me of a little post I read on another blog. BeautyGloss.nl (it's in Dutch). We all know how cute post-it notes can be. And I'm sure you've seen a lot of different posts on other blogs about it. But this one was different. It is a assignment to all of us. To make the world a happier place. I love love love the idea and I'll definitely help. This is the message:

Write a beautiful, simple, lovely, kind, happy message on a post-it note and stick it somewhere, where people can see it. It doesn't matter where. The idea is that when someone reads this message it will put a smile on his or her face. Just imagine you finding such a beautiful post it note which reminds you to smile. It would really make my day.

It's such a lovely idea. You could just write so many things. I personally would love to write something like a quote. 'Never give up the things that make you smile' 'Let's make better mistakes tomorrow' 'Smile and the world will smile back'I also read a part of the comments. A lot of them found a note. It's a lovely idea that you can make people you don't even know smile. One person wrote that a friend of her left little notes in library books. To cheer people up. I'm really in love with the idea.

Let's make some people smile!

(sorry for the crappy pics, i wrote them at first, but my camera didn't want to do what I wanted it to do. So I had to make them on the computer. And that worked very well either. But still. It's about the message ^^.)

And a little something to make you smile. Please watch:
