Looking back: My 2010 to do list

Maybe one of you, who also was here a year ago, remembers my DIY todo list for 2010.
If you weren´t there, shame on you ;),  you can read it here. I was full of ideas and seriously thinking I could commit myself and do all of those things. 2010 brought some amazing things for me, but almost none of them were planned. Anyway, it seemed like a nice idea to look back on that list and tell you what I did.

1. Make a piece of clothing from scratch. Well, all I can say about that one is: it's also on my 2011 to do list.

2. Make a cookbook of all the amazing recipes I tried. I actually did that one! It's still on my old laptop and there aren't that much recipes in it. But I'm looking forward to expanding that collection next year.

3. Try my dad's old camera collection. There was a moment in 2010 that I was walking near the Louvre in Paris with one of those old camera's in my hand. Seriously. With a film in it and everything. And then, after a few decades the battery was empty. My dad tried the camera a few days before and it was still fine. That didn't spoil the fun though. Paris is amazing. I actually went there twice this year. Ahh. All those wonderful memories.

4. Get creative with canvas bags.  I bought one. To start making cute ones. And then I discovered this really cheap pretty bags at a store in the Netherlands. For only one euro. I am that person that tells the person in the store that I don't want a bag, because I have my own. Yeah I know, probably annoying when you're behind the counter. But I think it's a very good thing to always have a extra bag with you. It's good for the environment, we use way to many plastic bags. So this store (Blokker) has really cute ones with a tiny thing to put them in. Perfect for in your handbag. I didn't really need to make those myself. Sorry.

5. Make a huge painting. No. Still no huge painting. But I did paint a whole room by myself, (my sister and a friend were wonderful help) In cute purple/lavender colours. Does that count?

6. Photograph. Yes. Did that. A lot.

7. Make a video.  I started making a simple stop motion, but never got around to finish it. And I made a silly video of me walking. It was just an experiment and I can't recall me showing it to anyone. I'm a bit ashamed. The song is really pretty though. But because I really like you all. Here it is:
I just got my new camera, which isn't  really meant for filming, but I wanted to try that. And this was the result. Quite stupid I know.

And that was the list.
Not that great of a year it would seem. But I'm very very grateful for everything that has happened. I've done some wonderful things and met a lot of inspiring people. Including starting my own little Etsyshop. Not a single sale. But I have a lot of fun working on that. And the travelling was great. I've been to so many places this year. Let's hope that 2011 is a much fun as 2010!

We wish you all a very happy new year!

All pictures belong to me.

Hee everyone!

Since Karin is in Vienna at the moment, I think it's time for a post about her (deviant)Art!
Karin is very creative, she draws since she was a very, very little girl and since a few years she also found out how to use a photocamera. And she knows it well!
Here are a few of her best shots! ^^.

What do you think about her photographs? ^^.

p.s. sorry about the DA watermarks, I couldn't ask her for the original pictures now. So I had to use the watermarked ones from DA :)

Inspiration

What would life be without a little bit (or a little lot) of inspiration. If you google it you find a few definitions:

  • arousal of the mind to special unusual activity or creativity
  • a product of your creative thinking and work; "he had little respect for the inspirations of other artists"; "after years of work his brainchild was a tangible reality"
  • a sudden intuition as part of solving a problem
  • divine guidance: (theology) a special influence of a divinity on the minds of human beings; "they believe that the books of Scripture were written under divine guidance"
  • arousing to a particular emotion or action
But I'm not quite sure that describes it all. So here are the 5 main things that right now inspire me to do the things I like:

ONE love
"love is a many splendid thing, love lifts us up where we belong, all you need is love"

Through love you see things differently and you meet new people and new habits. That's why my biggest inspiration is love. Last Saturday my boyfriend and I celebrated that we are together one year and it felt so good, romantic, lovely ;) It inspired me for the photoshoot Karin and I did the next day (you'll hear about that later, she got the pictures and she is in PARIS!)

TWO laughter & friendship

"A friend is one who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself"

Laughing is the most healthy thing you can do and my friends are there to make me laugh whenever I have forgotten how it works ^^.

THREE couture
"Hell On Heels"

One of my many dreams, yes I'm a dreamer, is to go to New York and work for a big fashion magazine. For now I'll have to do with reading the magazines and watching the couture and high fashion shows by pictures on internet. One can dream....
by Alexis Mabille

FOUR candelight
“If it weren't for electricity we'd all be watching television by candlelight.”

I think candlelight is one of the most romantic things. The way the little flame flickers on your walls when the wind catches it. It simply puts a smile on my face ^^.

FIVE Emily Brönte - Wuthering Heights
"It is not in him to be loved like me: how can she love in him what he has not?"

I had to read this book for my English class this year. I didn't. But still the book got a hold on me. I fell in love with it, so after school finished I read it. And when I was done, it gave me a very special feeling. And I loved that.

Holiday!

This morning, Karin left for Paris! (And many many other amazing places) She is going on a interrail tour with Veerle and Salina (two of our friends). And that means,,.
I will be bloggin' the next two weeks. Something I (shame on me) haven't done in a while. Since my vacation started (not officially, but it feels like it) I mostly spent my days with my boyfriend, by the pool or watching Charmed (my favourite serie at the moment, and believe it changes fast!)
Anyway, I have a plan to post a little something every day, but you know us a bit by now, and planning is our best feature... (A)

See you tomorrow!

DIY 2010

DIY ToDoList 2010

2010 is going to be a year full of stress and changes. I'll have my exams and hopefully graduate. I'm going to move out of my parents house and start studying biology. I'm very excited, but also a little scared. Beside all of that I want to be creative and do fun things. So that's why I made this list. I got this idea from A Beautiful Mess. She made a DIY to do list. And so did I. A few DIY projects that I will do in 2010. I won't have time for it, but I'll make time for it, because it's amazing to do. And you'll hear all about it.

Make a piece of clothing. From scratch. Not that I've done this before. But I will.Make a collection of all the amazing recipes I tried. Nicely put together in a book.

Try out a huge part of my dad's old camera collection. Including polaroidcamera's. Can't wait.

Get creative with these bags. Add prints/fabrics/buttons/texts. (Not all at once of course.)

Make a huge painting. Something that isn't finished in a few seconds. Maybe a wallpainting. Or on a big canvas. I've always wanted to do that.Photograph and photograph and photograph. And do a lot of shoots together with Fleur. This photo is the result of one of our previous ones. Try new things, be creative and learn.

Make a video. It could be drawn, a music video, a stop motion. Who knows? I always wanted to do that. Look at these amazing little videos. Love them.

Wish me luck!

Fleur

Since Fleur has been busy for quite some time now and hasn't really had time to post that much, I figured I could include her in this blog without her having to post something. I'm starting a new regular post. Maybe. I love to hear what other people's inspiration come from. What do they enjoy most? What makes them happy? And I especially love to hear that from people that inspire me. Fleur and me have been friends for a couple of years now and she really inspires me to do more. We love to photograph together, blog together, share amazing and lovely things and I'll never forget the wallpainting we made.

Anyway. I asked her some questions. Questions that I would ask to anyone of you. If some one actually reads this. What inspires you? But for now:

Meet Fleur.

What is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is my boyfriend. And my lovely friends.

What kind of music gives you the most inspiration?

Are there any cities that inspire you?

And a very important question, at least in my eyes...What kind of books inspire you?

What movie has been the most inspirational to you?

What's your favourite quote?
"Liever eigenwijs dan helemaal geen zelfvertrouwen."
(translated: I rather be pigheaded than have no confidence at all)

Other things that are an inspiration to you? Any last words?

We are...

Let's start with a small introduction. We are two friends :) But we've got names as well! We're Karin and Fleur. We both live in The Netherlands and one day Karin had a little weird twist in her mind and e-mailed Fleur, Let's start a Blog! We do that a lot you know (e-mailing! Not making blogs!) and most of the times an e-mail only contains a link to a site we love, or a youtubelink. And now we dicided we want to share it not only with each other, but also with the rest of the world. You guys ^^.

Well, to tell a little bit about ourselves, we met in what most people would call High School. But then a dutch version. Karin is 17 (almost 18!) and Fleur just turned 16. To get to know us better we both answered a few questions ^^.

1. What book are you reading right now?
2. Which sites are opened as well at this moment?
3. What is the last song you have heard?

4. What are you wearing right now?
5. Decribe yourself in one word!
6. What have you always wanted to do?

7. What do you want to do when you finish High School?
8. What are you're hobbies?
9. Which movie is the last one you've seen?
10. Tell whatever you want to tell ^^.

Karin:
1. I just finished reading 'The Shadow of the Wind' written by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. An amazing book.

3. We are Golden by Mika. Didn't really like the song at first, but it sort of grows on me.
4. I'm wearing jeans and a something between a dress and a long shirt with a lovely blue print. Just got rid of my grey heels, so I'm barefoot right now. :)
5. In one word?! Are you kidding? Well.. I'm me.
6. Be happy I guess. And I think I am :) But I wouldn't mind traveling the world to see and meet other people and cultures.
7. I want to study Biology. And we'll see what else I'm going to do.
8. My hobbies are photographing, reading, drawing and hanging out with friends. :) I also love my laptop and can't live without music.
9. The last movie I saw was "My Fake Fiance."
10. I hope you are going to love our blog. And please tell us if you have any ideas or suggestions!

1. Breaking Dawn, the fourth and last book of the Twilight-saga. In English! (I borrowed the saga from Karin actually)

2. My hyves-page, my Deviantart-page and Lookbook.nu

3. The new Mika song, We are Golden. First I really hated it, as did Karin. But this morning she e-mailed me that it was really growing on her. And I have to say, she is right. Once again :P
4. A simple black skirt and a grey top.
5. Optimistic, at least I hope (A)
6. Seeing 3 Doors Down or Nickelback perform in RL.
7. I really want to become a journalist :)
