Monday's Melody

I feel almost ashamed to post Monday's Melody. Fleur and I came up with Monday's Melody to make sure we'd post something every week and to replace 'Our favourite song at the moment'. But as it turns out, we can't even commit ourselves to post one regular post regulary. ^^ 

Anyway, the most important thing is:  this week there is a Monday's Melody.

I like so many different types of music. Last week I was slightly obsessed with the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack. Couldn't stop listening. 'A Postcard to Henry Purcell' makes me think about live a few centuries ago.  Don't get me wrong, I love pop and rock music, but a little classical music every now and then is so relaxing.

Monday's Melody

Hee everyone!

It is time for the second version of this new regular post. For quite some time now, probably since we've started, you could find our favourite song at that time on our blog. Maybe you knew that. The last few days I got really used to do whatever I want and just to have some fun. Summer's really here. Almost. While listening to the radio I heard this song. It's such a perfect summer song, it really made me happy. And I hope it will do exactly the same for you! - Karin.

The first time I heard this song I didn't like it at all, the earlier songs by muse were much better I thought! But after a while it grows on you and you can't get it out of your head! This song is also featured in the next Twilight movie, Eclipse :)

Love never dies - The Beauty Underneath

Tonight in our lovely little country, we have the anual musical awards gala! For the dutch musical industry this is a big happening! That's why I wanted to share a musical song with you this week ^^. This song is from the sequel of the all famous Phantom of the Opera. Love Never Dies. I really like it, but I think you have to know the story to really understand the meaning of it. Give it a try, you might as well enjoy it ^^. - Fleur!

Klomppop

Yesterday I went to an amazing local festival! It's called "Klomppop" and this was the 30th edition! 
My boyfriend and I jumped on our bikes at 11:00 and arrived around 11:30 at the festivalgrounds. We bought our ticket (€5,- cheaper then when we would buy it after 13:00!!), listened to a small local metal band, Dehumanisation, and went home to get something to eat and get a coat. 


Around 16:15 we were back, just in time for Go Back to the Zoo!! An amazing dutch band who just scored a hit with there song Electric!

After Go Back to the Zoo came Nuff Said, I didn't know them, but they really surprised me! There music is perfect for a festival, easy to dance on and a lot of fun to listen to!

After Nuff Said we went to eat something, missed Stream of Passion, a heavy metal band, so I didn't really mind about that. But when we came back we heard an amazing sound coming out of the tents. The Irish band Delorentos just started! That energy! Absolutely awesome! After the performance they distributed their album "In love with detail", for free! I'm listening to it right now, and it is super!

After this amazing performance we had like no time to catch our breath because there she was, CARO EMERALD! practicly thé reason I went to Klomppop! She is a sensation! She got the crowd dancing with her jazzband, an inspiring combination of a bariton saxophone, saxophone, contrabass, trumpet, piano, guitar and a dj! And they really made a show out of it, with man in suits and with (sun)glasses. Very 50's, 60's!

After Caro Emerald we had to give our feet some rest, but not for long because after Saint Jude, an English rockband, there was Moke!! An other dutch sensation! You could see they had so much fun while on stage!

And then is was time to go home. I had an amazing afternoon, evening and night, but was very happy when I could crawl in my soft bed by 00:30. What a day!

I just found out that Kate Nash has a new single (and album)! I guess that's what you miss when you sleep all day. I really like it, but maybe it's not that nice after hearing it over and over again. Well, I'll find that out, because I'm going to listen to it again. (:

Hi there!

I'm back. Paris was a-ma-zing. Seriously, you really have to go there if you can.
But not in February. At least not when it's this rainy. I will post pictures soon, but I seem to have lost the little wire to get my photographs off the camera. But I promise to get them to you as soon as I can.

We are both very into the new song of OneRepublic. I've always liked their music, but now they also have an amazing video for their new single. It reminds me a little bit of Moulin Rouge. DIY Mixtape

Do you know those moments when you are looking for the perfect, creative -and hopefully not too expensive- gift? I do. I have such amazing friends and I don't always let them know how much I appreciate them. So a while ago I read about a lovely DIY project. Once upon a time (when my parents were still youngh) people made mixtapes with special songs to tell somebody how much they cared about the other person. I love that idea. But we live in a new century. We have CD's now. :) Although they begin to get old too. Anyway. I came across this amazing DIY. Dylan Todd was a guest blogger on Smile and Wave. The highlight of today was the part were I learned that insects breathe through holes in their back. Quite a day. Not. And now, after some hot chocolate, eating cupcakes with friends, talking and doing practicaly nothing, I feel much better. So I thought, why don't I post a little something today? To make you feel better as well :)

Recently I've been listening to all kinds of music. But two musicians really keep popping up in my playlist. Mika and Owl City. Mika is well known around here, but I never heard of Owl City before. Where you live it can be the other way around. Or you know them both.

Mika has just released his second big album. I love it. It's still him, but more complete in some way. My favourites at this moment (it changes every 5 seconds) :

I had never heard of Owl City, until Fleur send my such a lovely song. After a little tiny bit of research I discovered that it is an American synthpop musical project. The song

'Fireflies' was a hit single in America. That's all I know. At this point. Anyway. This are a few songs I love (not including Fireflies, which I absolutely adore, you should definetly check that one out too!):

About 2 months ago, we posted a little piece about Album Art. Sometimes the most beautiful things are found on places you don't really look. You buy a cd to listen to the music. But all those album covers are little pieces of art. And they really deserve some attention. Just like last time, I found six album covers I really liked.

Finally, a new post. Just a little something. Sometimes an idea appears into your mind and you have absolutely no idea where it came from. At least that's what happens in my mind. Of course it must have come from somewhere and it probably was a reaction to a song I was listening or something. Anyway, you couldn't care less care about my stupid ideas and huge explanations. So I'll just show you. There are the most amazing album covers. Little pieces of art who everybody can see, but normally don't really care about. I found six I really liked. Here you go:
